Christina Maria Aguilera was on born December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York. She grew up in Wexford, Pennsylvania. Christina Aguilera is a daughter of Fausto Aguilera, is a U.S. Army sergeant of Ecuadorian descent, and Shelly Loraine Fidler also known as Shelly Kearns, is a Spanish translator from Newfoundland, Canada, and of remote Irish descent. She lived with her mother because of her parents divorce.
Christina Maria Aguilera attended Marshall Middle School in Wexford, Pennsylvania. In 1999, she completed her graduation from North Allegheny High School in Wexford, Pennsylvania.
Christina began performing in school talent shows, when she was 6 years old. At the age of eight, she appeared on the nationally syndicated "Star Search". When she was ten years old, she sang the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At the age of 12, Christina Aguilera joined the star cast of "The New Mickey Mouse Club", appearing on the Orlando based show. On March 15, 1990, she appeared on Star Search but she failed win. In 1993 she joined The New Mickey Mouse Club and her breakthrough came.
Her most important musical influences are Julie Andrews, Whitney Houston, Etta James and Billie Holiday. She has two Papillion dogs named Chewy and Stinky.
In 1999, Christina Aguilera album was released and reached the top of the Billboard 200 and Canadian album charts, selling eight million albums in the US. Her Genie in a Bottle, What a Girl Wants and Come on Over Baby are reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1999 and 2000.
In 2001, she was nominated for 6 MTV Video Music Awards. In 2002, she was ranked #13 in Stuff magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World". Christina Aguilera is #1 on Maxim's Hot 100 of 2003 and the host of MTV's 2003 Europe Music Awards. She was nominated for the 2004 Echo Awards Best International Female.
Throughout the career, Aguilera has been involved with certain charities. Aguilera contributes in the fight against AIDS. She signed a letter from PETA to the South Korean government asking that the country stop its alleged "abuse of dogs and cats killed for food". Aguilera also made major contributions to the Women's Center & Shelter Of Greater Pittsburgh.
