Taylor Daniel Lautner (born on February 11, 1992) is an American actor, who has appeared in such family films as The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D or Cheaper by the Dozen. He is also famous for his role as Jacob Black in the film series Twilight.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and has a younger sister, Makena. He was raised in Hudsonville and attended Jamestown Elementary School, till his family relocatd to the Santa Clarita area.
Lautner started acting in 2001, when he appeared in the television film Shadow Fury. He also appeared on the series The Bernie Mac Show, Summerland, My Wife and Kids or The Nick & Jessica Variety Hour. He had a recurring role on the cartoon Danny Phantom, voiced episodes of What’s New, Scooby-Doo and He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown and the character Silas in the animated series Silas and Britanny.
In 2005, Lautner was cast as Shark Boy in the film The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D. It was followed by the role of Elliott in the film Cheaper by the Dozen.
In October 2008, he appeared as the son of Christian Slater on the television series My Own Worst Enemy, until the series was terminated after just nine episodes. Lautner next appeared as Jacob Black in the movie adaptation of Twilight. He reprised his role in the sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In 2010, he starred as Tyler Harrinton in the comedy film Valentine’s Day.
In September 2009, Lautnet and Shakira offered the Best Female Video Award at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards to Taylor Swift, and he was also the host of Saturday Night Live in December, 2009, turning him in one of the youngest celebrity hosts of the show.
In 2010, at the Academy Award, he and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart presented a tribute in the honor of the horror movie genre. He is presently the best paid teenage actor.
Lautner is set to star in 2012, as Stretch Armstrong in a 3-D film and will appear in Cancun and in the thriller Abduction.
